About: The Healthy Farmers Market is a partnership of city, county, non-profit, and community-based organizations aiming to increase food access in the Adams County communities. The markets provide produce vouchers to eligible attendees to increase purchasing power of fresh, local fruits and vegetables; community resources to increase health equity; and local, small businesses.
Summary: The markets are searching for volunteers to assist with weekly operations of the market, including set-up and tear-down of equipment, check-in process, and produce stand operations.
Volunteer shifts will be Thursday from 1:00 PM- 6:00 PM and shifts will be available from July 10 - October 2. Shifts may be adjusted or split into two upon request. If you are bilingual, please let us know!
Location: Thursdays - McAllister Park 750 W. 96th Avenue.
Volunteer Duties:
- Assist with set up and tear down the Healthy Farmers Markets tents, tables, chairs, and signs at the start and end of the markets
- Assist vendors and community resources in setting up and tearing down tents, tables, and chairs
- Assist vendors with other set-up and tear-down as requested
- Assist Market Manager at the market check-in booth, including survey completion, handing out vouchers and additional information, answering vendor and attendee questions
- Assist produce vendor with produce stand operations, including set-up/tear-down, restocking produce, assisting attendees, and administrative duties
- Assist attendees with carrying purchases to car upon request
- Direct vendors where to park at Mcallister Park location
- Counting attendees
- Other duties as needed
Volunteer hours:
- Able to sign-off on volunteer requirement forms including high school graduation requirements, community service hours, etc.
Thursday Schedule @ McAllister Park:
1:00 PM: Arrive at McAllister location
● Help unload the equipment
1:45 PM - 2 PM: Set-up tents, tables, chairs, and signs
● Market Manager will determine how many and where to set up tents, tables, chairs, and signs
● Direct vendors where to park
● Direct community members to the line
● Other duties as assigned
2 PM - 5 PM: Assist with market operations as needed, including:
● Counting attendees
● Assisting at check-in booth or produce stand
● Carrying attendee purchases to vehicles
● This portion can be optional as needed.
● Verbally translate as applicable/needed
● Assist attendees with carrying purchases to car upon request
5 PM- 6:00 PM: Breakdown equipment and reload vehicle
● Assist produce vendor with tear-down and reloading truck
● Assist in tear-down tasks, restoring/cleaning area and indoor facility (i.e. taking trash out, bathrooms, etc.)
