Who We Are

Vision

To capture the hearts and minds of Thornton residents and enhance the quality of their lives through exposure and involvement in the arts, sciences and humanities.

Origin

The Thornton Arts, Sciences and Humanities Council (TASHCO) Board of Directors has existed since 1991, and is appointed by Thornton City Council which may select five to 12 members to serve on the TASHCO Board for unlimited four-year terms.  Members may also participate in subcommittees that meet separately and are created to support initiative such as public art, fundraising, and community events.

Funding

Staff submit annual SCFD Tier III grant requests and reports on behalf of TASHCO to the Adams County Cultural Council. Awarded funds are used to support community programs and projects including the Thornton Arts Academy, OZ Gallery, and annual Day of the Day/Dia de los Muertos cultural celebration. TASHCO is a registered 501(c)3 nonprofit organization and accepts donations year-round through Colorado Gives to support its community activities.
