Volunteer: Farmer's Highline Canal and Trail Clean Up

Two Communities- One Goal

The Farmer’s Highline Canal and Trail (aka Signal Ditch as it moves into Thornton) is a man-made waterway, used for irrigation and recreation. The canal begins in Waterton canyon and works its way out to the plains as it meanders through several municipalities. Water is expected to be released into the canal in early April. Join us for the Farmer's Highline Canal Cleanup where hundreds of volunteers from throughout the Northglenn and Thornton communities will spend one Saturday morning in March cleaning riverbeds and trails by removing garbage and debris. This will prepare the way for the water to move smoothly through our cities. Meet:  Satire Brewing Company (12136 Grant Circle)  parking lot for check in (9:00 am) and lunch (11:15 am)Bring:  Closed toe footwear that may get a little wet.  Feel free to bring your own gloves if desired; however, gloves will be available.
We will provide a water bottle, a backpack with bags, gloves and lunch.

*** In case of significant inclement weather, we will notify via email and reschedule for Saturday, March 28.

Volunteer: Earth Day - Habitat Build

Celebrate Earth Day with us on Wednesday, April 22!

Earth Day is a global event dedicated to protecting our planet and promoting sustainability. This year, we’re rolling up our sleeves to give back to nature by building birdhouses and bat boxes that will be placed throughout the city. These habitats will provide safe nesting sites and help support healthy biodiversity in our community. City staff will install each habitat in carefully selected locations where they will best support local wildlife.

Materials and tools will be provided.

Volunteer: Yardbusters 2026!

Yardbusters is a summer volunteer program running from June 1 through October 1 that brings neighbors together to support income-qualified seniors and income-qualified individuals with disabilities. Volunteers are matched with a resident for the entire season and help with basic yard care such as mowing lawns, raking, light hand pruning, and weed removal. This assistance helps residents maintain safe, well-kept properties and remain in compliance with municipal codes.

Residents provide the needed tools and lawn equipment, and gloves are available to volunteers upon request. To meet code requirements, volunteers typically visit each home about twice per month during the growing season. Volunteers are welcome to participate on their own, with family members, or as part of a team—making Yardbusters a meaningful way to give back and strengthen our community.

For more information about becoming a Yardbuster, contact Belia at 303-255-7831.
