
About: The Healthy Farmers Market is a partnership of city, county, non-profit, and community-based organizations aiming to increase food access in the Adams County communities. The markets provide produce vouchers to eligible attendees to increase purchasing power of fresh, local fruits and vegetables; community resources to increase health equity; and local, small businesses.
Summary: The markets are searching for volunteers to assist with weekly operations of the market, including set-up and tear-down of equipment, check-in process, and produce stand operations. The markets run from June 25th through October 3rd, 2024, Tuesdays from 9 AM- 12 PM and Thursday from 2 PM- 5 PM (no markets the weeks of July 4th and Labor Day). Volunteer hours will be Tuesdays from 8:30 AM-12:30 PM and Thursday from 1:45 PM- 5:45 PM. Shifts may be adjusted or split into two upon request.
Location: Tuesdays: Margaret Carpenter Recreation Center, 11151 Colorado Blvd, Thornton, CO 80233
Volunteer Duties:
- Assist with set up and tear down the Healthy Farmers Markets tents, tables, chairs, and signs at the start and end of the markets
- Assist vendors and community resources in setting up and tearing down tents, tables, and chairs
- Assist vendors with other set-up and tear-down as requested
- Assist Market Manager at the market check-in booth, including survey completion, handing out vouchers and additional information, answering vendor and attendee questions
- Assist produce vendor with produce stand operations, including set-up/tear-down, restocking produce, assisting attendees, and administrative duties
- Assist attendees with carrying purchases to car upon request
- Counting attendees
- Other duties as needed
Volunteer hours:
- Able to sign-off on volunteer requirement forms including high school graduation requirements, community service hours, etc.
Tuesday Schedule @ Margaret Carpenter:
Shift: 8:30 AM - 1 PM
8:30 AM: Arrive at Margaret Carpenter location
● Help unload the equipment
8:30 - 9 AM: Set-up tents, tables, chairs, and signs
● Market Manager will determine how many and where to set up tents, tables, chairs, and signs
9 AM - 12 PM: Assist with market operations as needed, including:
● Counting attendees
● Assisting at check-in booth or produce stand
● Carrying attendee purchases to vehicles
● This portion can be optional as needed.
● Verbally translate as applicable/needed
● Other duties as assigned
12 PM-1 PM: Breakdown equipment and reload vehicle
● Assist produce vendor with tear-down and reloading truck
● Assist in restoring/cleaning area
