Who We Are

The purpose of the City of Thornton Archive is to curate, preserve, and make accessible items that document the history and culture of the Thornton community.  The archive is overseen and managed by the Thornton Arts and Culture Center staff, and provides equitable access to any individual or group interested in the culture and history of Thornton.  The archive strives to carefully maintain and share items of great public interest through exhibitions and through our digital collections website.  The archive will support the City’s mission by providing public access to Thornton’s historical records for research and recreational interests, encouraging community engagement, and ensuring a high level of service for all Thornton residents.

What We Do

Our small but passionate staff work to describe, preserve, and share the vast collections that the City of Thornton has created and acquired during its 65 year history.  A large part of achieving this goal is engaging with the public to answer questions, provide educational resources, and learn through the exchange of ideas.

With all of this exciting progress being made in the Thornton Archive, we are in need of some helping hands to assist with tasks like sleeving photos, scanning, organizing records, and possibly some data entry.  This is a unique opportunity to get some hands on experience with our collections and learn about our community's rich history
